Little Adventurer First Birthday

December 1, 2016

Planning a first birthday party for my little guy is always fun! As with anything, I always want to plan around their personalities. It may seem rather funny when I say this, but even at a young age, they do show great personalities of their own. So when it came to this guy, I knew the first birthday party theme had to be around “The Little Adventurer”/Adventure Awaits. Right from the start, he had shown signs of wanting to be independent, and loves to explore.

With 2 kids now, I have to admit it is a little tough to juggle and try to plan the birthday party with a budget in mind. We came across this lovely community centre -the historic Stiver Mill Cultural Centre in the heart of heritage Unionville. It was perfect the minute I walked in. It was big enough to fit 40 people maximum, but small enough to still feel intimate.

We kept it pretty simple, with a few simple décor. I looked high and low for custom printables that got my vision (I had specific ideas in my head, I can’t help it, I’m a planner! ), and stumbled upon this Australian Etsy Shop Penny Paperie Designs. Watercolours, camper van, the great outdoors and the world map. It all came together exactly how I envision it – banner, cupcake toppers, party hat, thank you cards, water bottle wrapper and straw flags. I highly recommend the shop, she was so accommodating and so quick at making changes.

Now on to the dessert table. I had to bake my own cake after all. I have always made my oldest son’s cake, all 4 years, and with no exception this first birthday cake. I decided to keep things manageable for me, I made a watercolour inspired cake to match the party décor. To dress up the cake, I had custom cake toppers made from Wishful Studios. I am so lucky to be in the wedding planning business and have met all these talented vendors I knew I can reach out to and count on. She designed my little guy laser cut wooden toppers – one which is a globe (to represent explore around the world), camper van and a teepee (to represent be adventurous). For some fun elements, I order custom confetti balloons from The Sweetest Thing Confection which my son LOVED!

For the rest of the dessert table, I ordered them from a small Portugese café called Lucky 20 Café close to my house, who also carries Dufflet dessert.

And so just like that, a year went by and he’s 1 year old. Thank you to Muse Moi Studios for coming and capturing some moments of us! It is truly special to have pictures to look back to as time passes way too fast, and kids grow up way too fast. Treasure the times, capture the moments.

Cambium Farms Wedding | Amanda & Daryn

November 18, 2016

Cambium Farms in Caledon is honestly one of my favourite wedding venue in Ontario. This year, I got to work on 2 weddings here. One was Jeff and Kim’s wedding in the summer, and now Amanda and Daryn.

Amanda and Daryn both work as teachers in Egypt. They hired me to pull together their vision and style their wedding. It is always so great when my clients are able to trust me and work with even though they are so far away. I love it!

Amanda wanted the wedding to be elegant and romantic in this natural rustic setting. From the day she met, she had mentioned how much she loved her vintage inspired lace wedding dress. Rightfully so, when I saw her in her wedding dress, I understood! The lace detail was so romantic and the back of the dress was beautiful!!

With that, I had used that as the inspiration to work on her wedding. Together with the talented Cedar and Stone Floral Studio, we installed lace backdrop for her ceremony arch with florals on top to create a romantic vintage feel to it.

And don’t forget the beautiful bouquets that Cedar and Stone Floral Studio created for the girls!! It fit them so perfectly!

I also had lace laser cut table numbers created to dress up each table along side the lantern centerpieces. These table numbers were created by Wishful Studios and was perfect to sit on top of birch table number holders. To complete the entire look, we used burlap table runners with lace on top as well.

Both Amanda and Daryn love travelling. With that, they wanted to incorporate their love of travelling into their wedding as well. A world map printed on wood was used as guestbook. (most fitting I would say!) We also incorporated postcards from all their travelling as well as pictures of them travelling in their décor.

And last but not least, the super talented Crumb and Berry finished off with the most delicious and perfect cake and sweets for the couple.

Until the next wedding at Cambium Farms next year, this was definitely one to remember as well in my books!
