Flowers for days!

September 15, 2014

The days are getting shorter, and getting cooler. That also means dahlias are now in season! I always love dahlias! I went down Avenue and Davernport on Sunday to pick some up to make an arrangement and saw Proteas. So in love with them! I’ve seen them on Pinterest like these:

And since I love dahlias so much, I paired my arrangement with some white dahlias and snowberries. It was fun to practice my hand-tied skills since learning it in the spring. Still there’s room for improvement, but I’m quite liking the combination. What do you think?

Setting the mood to your wedding

September 3, 2014

I personally love live music! Whether it’s a wedding or an event, it adds to the ambiance, it brings life to the room – just something about it makes my feet tap and my body sway.

I have all sorts of clients, and while looking around for musicians for them, I’ve come across a few musicians that I fell in love with.  Some whom I have gotten a chance to work with and some whom I hope to soon! So next time you’re thinking of having some live music at your wedding, maybe you can consider them!

  • Kat Langdon, who also have a Jazz Trio called Lady Be Good. I absolutely love her ‘kitchen rehearsal’ series! It just shows how talented they are! I’m a big fan of jazz and here’s just one of my fav:

  •  St. Royals – this soulful band is amazing! Their energy, their voices..everything about them will get you and your guests off to the dance floor. Trust me! you can choose from 5 piece up to 18pc!

  • Ambiance – the flute/guitar duo. Having worked with them on my client’s ceremony and cocktail reception, I highly recommend them. Their talent, their professionalism – it made the ceremony/cocktail reception just so much more beautiful!
  • Graham Howes Musical Services – I grew up playing the piano and so I wanted to include specifically having a pianist in my list. I met Graham at one of my client’s wedding, having him play solo piano accompanied by his vocals for dinner music added the perfect touch to the night.
