Truck Themed Birthday Party
July 7, 2014
And so my little guy has turned 2! Decided on a bright coloured truck themed party! As from my last throwback post, I mentioned I wanted to keep things simple, but I still wanted it to be fun! So I scoured around Etsy, my favourite place to shop and found these super fun signs from StorybookLane Crafts!
Attempted this year to make his birthday cake again. Despite the poor icing job, the lemon velvet cake recipe from here was a keeper! My son loves sour things which is why I settled on a lemon cake with lemon curd, perfect for summer. And topped them with some DIY cake toppers!
Special thanks to our friend Ron from SomeGuys Culinary Co. who helped us prepped some amazing food for bbq! And Jessica from Hello Baked for customizing the cookies for the kids!!
Throwback Thursday: Balloon Themed Birthday
July 3, 2014
One more day, and my son will be turning 2!! How time flies! This little guy has made my heart so filled with joy! So in the spirit of prepping for his 2nd birthday, I wanted to do a throwback to last year’s party. From attire to dessert table – I worked tirelessly on it. I wanted to try to do it all! 🙂 (rest assured, I’m not going to try to be a hero mama like last year, this year, I’m keeping it simple!).
Anyhow, theme = balloons inspired by UP. Reason? We used to play the soundtrack of UP when he was in my belly, and he would always react to it with kicks. So we thought it was well appropriate since he can’t talk yet.
I hope when he grows older, he will appreciate all that I’ve made for him. No professional pictures here, but good enough for my memories keepsake!
The one thing that I was most proud of! My first attempt on a 2 tier fondant covered cake!
